How We Test

Every rating on BetRankGH comes from the same repeatable process: real Cedis deposited, real withdrawals timed to the second, odds margins calculated by hand, and licences checked against the Gaming Commission of Ghana register. This page documents that process in full.

1. Licence Verification

Before any testing begins, we check each operator against the Gaming Commission of Ghana public register. Operators fall into three groups:

  • GCG-licensed — the operator holds an active local licence. This is the standard for our rankings.
  • Offshore-licensed — the operator serves Ghana on an international licence (typically Curaçao) without local GCG cover. These sites are listed but carry a clearly visible Curaçao Licence flag on every ranking card, because you have no local regulatory protection if a dispute arises.
  • Unlicensed — excluded entirely. No exceptions.

Where we cannot independently confirm a licence number against the register, our review says so explicitly rather than repeating an unverified claim.

2. Real Deposits, Timed Withdrawals

Payout speed is the single thing Ghanaian bettors care about most — in our January 2026 survey of 147 active bettors across Accra, Kumasi, and Takoradi, 68% named MoMo payout speed as their top priority when choosing a bookmaker. So we measure it, rather than repeating what operators advertise.

Our most recent lab ran between 3 February and 12 March 2026: 48 live withdrawal requests — six per bookmaker — from a single registered, KYC-verified MTN MoMo account. Each test started the moment a winning bet settled and ended when the MTN push notification arrived on the handset. No tests were run during promotional periods or while another withdrawal was pending. The full results table is published on our homepage; the averages you see on each ranking card ("Payouts: 28 sec avg") come directly from those tests.

Where we have not yet measured an operator ourselves, the card says "Not verified" — we would rather show a gap than a guess.

3. Odds Margins & Market Depth

An odds margin is the cut the bookmaker takes from every market. We calculate it using the three-way overround method on identical fixtures across all operators — most recently 12 English Premier League fixtures (GW20–24) and 8 Ghana Premier League fixtures in January 2026. Market depth is counted on a single benchmark event so the numbers are comparable. Lower margins mean bigger payouts on the same bet, which is why odds value is weighted heavily in our scores.

4. Bonus Terms, Read in Full

We read the wagering requirements behind every advertised welcome offer and publish the rollover multiplier next to the bonus on our comparison table — a GHS 5,500 bonus with a 5x accumulator rollover is a very different product from a GHS 500 bonus that clears at 1x. Where an operator advertises its bonus inconsistently across channels, we say so on the card and recommend confirming in-app rather than passing the claim along.

5. What the Rating Means

Each review scores the operator on five dimensions — odds value, payments, bonuses, usability, and support — and produces a single rating out of 10. The homepage ranking is sorted by that rating alone. Ranking positions are never sold. Some operators pay us a commission when you sign up through our links; that relationship has no effect on the rating, the position, or the visual treatment of any card.

The small badges you may see on a card — like "Fastest Payouts" or "Best Odds" — are earned distinctions backed by the measurements above, never paid placements.

6. Re-testing and Corrections

Bonuses, terms, and availability are re-verified on a rolling basis — the "Last tested" badge on the homepage shows the date of the most recent pass. When an operator's site goes offline or its terms change, the listing is updated or removed rather than left to rot. If you spot something we got wrong, tell us — corrections make the rankings better for everyone.

How We Make Money

BetRankGH is an independent comparison site, not owned by any bookmaker. When you sign up through our links we may earn a commission from the operator. That commission never changes a rating, a ranking position, or a review verdict — if a bookmaker underperforms, we say so. The measurements on this page exist precisely so you don't have to take our word for it.
