Best Betting Sites in Ghana
There are 67 operators on the Gaming Commission of Ghana register. We checked every one, kept the 30 with a sports-betting licence, tested 20 of them with real cedis, and ranked the 10 that earned a place. Every payout time on this page was measured on our own MoMo wallet, not copied from a press release.

How We Test Ghana's Betting Sites
We are an independent comparison site, not owned by any bookmaker. Our editorial team deposits real money, places real bets, and times every MoMo withdrawal across 20+ licensed operators. When you sign up through our links we may earn a commission, but this never influences our ratings. If a bookmaker underperforms, we say so.
Every operator is evaluated on:
- Odds margins: bookmakers taking a lower cut of every staked cedi rank higher. We measure margins ourselves, using the three-way overround method on real fixtures.
- Withdrawal speed: instant MoMo processing is the gold standard. We time withdrawals from request to the MTN push notification.
- Market depth: the availability of complex markets like Asian Handicaps and Player Props.
- Licence status: checked against the Gaming Commission of Ghana public register, not the operator's own claims.
Read our full testing methodology for the complete scoring model.
GCG-Licensed Betting Sites: We Check the Register Monthly
Most "best betting sites" lists mention the Gaming Commission of Ghana once and move on. We capture the GCG public register every month and publish what changed in our License Watch column. The July 2026 capture holds 67 operator trade names and 83 licences; exactly 30 operators hold a licence that covers sports betting.
Every bookmaker in our ranking is checked against that capture, not against a logo in the operator's own footer. Where a site serves Ghanaians on an offshore licence instead — Paripesa runs on a Curaçao licence, for example — we flag it in gold in the table rather than quietly listing it, and our reviews explain what that means for dispute resolution. Unlicensed sites are excluded entirely.
You don't have to take our word for it: the register is public, and our verification guide walks you through checking any operator yourself in about two minutes.
The Betting Sites Ghanaians Actually Use
Here is something most affiliate lists won't show you: the market is not a close race. Industry demand tracking (Blask BAP index, February 2026) puts SportyBet at 57.1% of Ghanaian betting demand, with Betway a distant second and shrinking:
Why does this matter for a ranking? Because many international "best betting sites in Ghana" pages lead with whichever offshore brand pays the highest commission, not with the sites Ghanaians actually trust with their money. Our list is built the other way round: SportyBet tops it because it won our payout lab outright, and local heavyweights like MSport and Soccabet rank on their tested merits. Where a high-commission brand earns its place — 1xBet's odds margins are genuinely the best we measured — we say exactly why, with the number. The full story of SportyBet's dominance is in our market-share analysis.
Fastest-Paying Betting Sites: MoMo Lab Results (48 Tests)
If a bookmaker in Ghana does not process MoMo transactions quickly, it does not belong at the top of any ranking. Over 90% of sports wagers in Ghana are funded via MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, or AT Money, and our January 2026 bettor survey (below) found payout speed is the single thing Ghanaian bettors care about most.
Between 3 February and 12 March 2026, we made 48 live withdrawal requests (six per bookmaker) using a single MTN MoMo account (registered, KYC-verified). Each test began immediately after a winning bet settled and ended when the MTN push notification arrived on the handset. No tests were made during promotional periods or when a withdrawal was already pending.
| Bookmaker | Avg. MoMo Time | Worst Case | Min. Withdrawal | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SportyBet | 28 sec | 1 min 54 sec | GHS 1 | Instant |
| MSport | 44 sec | 3 min 10 sec | GHS 1 | Instant |
| Betway | 3 min 12 sec | 9 min | GHS 5 | Fast |
| Betwinner | 4 min 05 sec | 14 min | GHS 5 | Fast |
| 1xBet | 5 min 38 sec | 22 min | GHS 1 | Fast |
| 22Bet | 8 min 45 sec | 28 min | GHS 1 | Standard |
| 888Starz | 19 min 30 sec | 47 min | GHS 10 | Standard |
All tests used MTN MoMo on a Vodafone Ghana 4G connection in Accra. Time measured from withdrawal request confirmation to incoming push notification. 6 tests per bookmaker across separate days and match events.
Among the rest of our top ten, Betway and Betwinner both cleared five minutes comfortably, and 1xBet and Betwinner add crypto withdrawals for high-volume bettors who want an alternative rail. The full wallet-by-wallet picture, including fees and limits, is in our Mobile Money guide.
Best Betting Odds in Ghana: Margins We Measured (EPL & GPL)
An odds margin is the percentage of every staked GHS that the bookmaker expects to retain over time. Lower is better for the bettor — and almost no ranking page ever publishes a measured number for it.
We calculated margins using the three-way overround method across 12 Premier League fixtures (GW20–GW24) and 8 Ghana Premier League fixtures in January 2026. Market depth was measured on a single EPL benchmark event (Man City vs Arsenal, GW22) and counts all available pre-match markets.
| Bookmaker | EPL Margin | GPL Margin | Markets / Match | Odds Grade |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1xBet | 4.1% | 9.8% | 823 | A+ |
| Betwinner | 4.5% | 10.4% | 692 | A |
| SportyBet | 4.7% | 12.3% | 347 | A |
| 22Bet | 5.2% | 11.1% | 508 | B+ |
| Betway | 5.3% | 13.5% | 412 | B+ |
| 888Starz | 5.6% | 13.0% | 389 | B |
| MSport | 5.9% | 14.2% | 278 | B |
GPL margins are consistently higher than EPL across all operators, reflecting lower liquidity and less efficient pricing on local fixtures. Bettors placing serious money on Ghanaian domestic football should factor the higher house edge into their staking strategy.
Best Betting Apps in Ghana
With the vast majority of bets placed on mobile devices, a clunky website is no longer acceptable. The top operators have invested heavily in dedicated iOS and Android applications designed specifically for Ghanaian mobile networks.
Betway Ghana consistently ranks as the best overall app, largely due to its "Data-Free" integration which allows users to place bets without an active data bundle. SportyBet's 18MB app is the lightest full sportsbook we tested. 22Bet and Betwinner also offer well-optimised Android apps with deep market access, ideal for bettors who want hundreds of markets without burning through their data allowance. For ultra-casual bettors, betPawa's lightweight mobile site lets you stake from as little as GHS 0.01 without downloading anything.
New Betting Sites in Ghana: Betano Arrives
The most significant market entry of 2026 is Betano, which launched in Accra on 5 February 2026 as Kaizen Gaming's 20th regulated market and its second in Africa after Nigeria. Unlike the grey-market brands that drift in and out of Ghana, Betano entered with a GCG licence from day one and a heavyweight product: strong live-betting coverage, a clean app, and competitive EPL pricing.
New entrants have to buy market share, which usually means aggressive early promotions — worth watching if you want value, as long as you read the rollover terms first. Our full Betano Ghana review tracks how its bonus terms and payout speeds develop as the brand settles in.
Is Online Betting Legal in Ghana? (And Yes, Winnings Are Tax-Free)
Online sports betting is fully legal in Ghana for anyone 18 or older. The Gaming Commission of Ghana regulates the industry under the Gaming Act 2006 (Act 721), and the market has matured far beyond the unregulated offshore era: the GCG now runs enforcement offices beyond Accra and actively blocks unlicensed operators. For players, regulation means deposits sit with an operator that answers to a Ghanaian regulator, and withdrawals can't simply be ignored.
On tax: Ghana's 10% withholding tax on betting winnings was abolished on 2 April 2025 under the Income Tax (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Act 1129), alongside the E-Levy on mobile money. Your full gross winnings now land in your MoMo wallet with no deduction at source. One precision worth knowing: it is the player tax that disappeared — operators still pay a 20% tax on their gross gaming revenue, which is one reason margins between bookmakers differ more than ever. With no tax clawing back your profit, the sharpest odds and the cleanest bonus terms are now pure upside, which is exactly what this page ranks.
What Ghanaian Bettors Actually Prioritise
In January 2026, we surveyed 147 active bettors across Accra, Kumasi, and Takoradi, recruited through WhatsApp betting communities and at licensed betting shops. We asked each participant to rank five factors when selecting a bookmaker. Payout speed dominated:
- MoMo payout speed: top priority for 68% of respondents
- Welcome bonus size: top priority for 17%
- Odds value / low margins: top priority for 9%
- App speed on 3G / data-light browsing: top priority for 5%
- Customer support quality: top priority for 1%
Several participants shared their experience directly:
"If my withdrawal does not land before the next match starts, I lose focus. SportyBet sends the money before I even close my phone. That is what I need." – Emmanuel O., 27, Accra (AccuBet WhatsApp community)
"When the GRA tax was still around, I moved all my accumulator bets to platforms with a win boost. Now that it's been abolished, those boosts just add straight onto my full payout." – Abena M., 34, Kumasi (surveyed at licensed betting shop, Adum)
"The Betway data-free app changed how I bet. I used to top up data just to check live odds. Now I spend nothing on airtime for betting." – Kwame D., 22, Takoradi (Betway app user, 14 months)
Ghana's Top 10 Betting Sites in Detail
SportyBet won our payout lab outright: 28 seconds average across six timed MoMo withdrawals, with a worst case under two minutes. It also carries the market with it — 57.1% of Ghanaian betting demand — and backs that up with a 4.7% EPL margin, an 18MB app that runs happily on low-end Androids, and GHS 1 minimums on both deposits and withdrawals. Flexi Bet insurance and partial cashout round it out. If payout speed is your first filter, this is the answer. Full SportyBet review · Visit SportyBet
Betway's data-free app is still unique in Ghana: live odds and bet placement with no data bundle. Payouts averaged 3 minutes 12 seconds in our tests, and the GHS 200 free bet is easy to understand — but note the demanding 10x playthrough on 3.0+ odds before it converts. Its 5.3% EPL margin is mid-pack, so sharp bettors will find better prices elsewhere; beginners will find nothing friendlier. Full Betway review · Visit Betway
1xBet posted the lowest odds margin we measured in Ghana (4.1% EPL) and the deepest market coverage (823 markets on our benchmark match), plus the biggest bonus ceiling at GHS 5,500 with a 5x accumulator rollover. The trade-offs: a site dense enough to overwhelm beginners, and payouts of 5–6 minutes that are fast but not instant. For value hunters betting serious volume, the margin difference compounds into real money. Full 1xBet review · Visit 1xBet
MSport was the only bookmaker to challenge SportyBet in the payout lab: 44 seconds average, worst case just over three minutes. The GHS 3,000 welcome package and weekly promos are competitive, and its Aviator implementation is among the most stable we tested. Odds value is the weak spot — a 5.9% EPL margin is the highest in our top tier. Full MSport review · Visit MSport
Betwinner pairs a 4.5% EPL margin (second only to 1xBet) with 692 markets per match, a unique bet constructor, and both MoMo and crypto rails. Withdrawals averaged 4 minutes 05 seconds. The GHS 2,500 match bonus carries the standard 5x accumulator rollover; the GHS 2 minimum deposit is a minor quirk. Full Betwinner review · Visit Betwinner
22Bet's 508 markets per match and the best esports selection in Ghana earn its place, along with a 100% accumulator profit boost. Payouts averaged 8 minutes 45 seconds — acceptable, not elite — and the GHS 10 minimum deposit is the highest in our top six. Odds sit at a 5.2% EPL margin. Full 22Bet review · Visit 22Bet
Paripesa is the one site in our ranking operating on a Curaçao licence rather than a GCG licence — which is why it wears a gold flag in our table. We keep it listed because the product is genuinely good: 3% weekly cashback, a 50% acca boost, crypto plus MoMo, and 10–15 minute payouts in our tests. But understand the trade: if a dispute goes wrong, you have no Ghanaian regulator to appeal to. Full Paripesa review · Visit Paripesa
Betika's *263# USSD betting works on any phone with zero data — a genuinely useful feature outside the big cities — and its lite site is built for weak connections. The Akwaaba welcome package pays up to GHS 130 in free bets. Payouts landed within a few minutes in our tests, though with more variance than the leaders. Full Betika review · Visit Betika
Melbet's 300% match up to GHS 2,100 is the most aggressive multiplier in Ghana, and its casino selection is vast. The costs: payout times ranged from minutes to a few hours in our testing — the widest spread in our top ten — and the site shares 1xBet's density problem. Read the bonus terms before chasing the multiplier. Full Melbet review · Visit Melbet
Soccabet runs Ghana's largest retail network (200+ shops) and is estimated to be the country's #1 operator by revenue in 2026 — a reminder that the online rankings and the street tell different stories. The online product is more basic than the leaders and welcome offers are occasional free bets rather than a standing bonus, but payouts cleared in 5–15 minutes and the GCG licence is solid. Best Betting Sites in Ghana: FAQ
SportyBet tops our August 2026 ranking: it won our MoMo payout lab (28-second average withdrawal) and holds a majority of Ghanaian betting demand. 1xBet offers the best odds (4.1% EPL margin) and the biggest bonus ceiling (GHS 5,500), while Betway is ideal for beginners thanks to its data-free app. The "best" site depends on whether you prioritise payout speed, odds value, or app quality.
In our 48-withdrawal lab test (Feb–Mar 2026), SportyBet was fastest at 28 seconds average to MTN MoMo, with MSport second at 44 seconds. Betway, Betwinner and 1xBet all averaged under six minutes. The slowest site we tested, 888Starz, still averaged under 20 minutes.

18. The Gaming Commission of Ghana enforces age verification at licensed operators, and underage gambling is a licence-threatening offence for the bookmaker. Expect a Ghana Card check before your first withdrawal.
